California Sharpshooter PRS Match

It was a great weekend shooting the California Precision Rifle Series match. This was my first match of the year having taken the fall off for hunting season. Overall for a warm-up match I finished out alright by beating my previous top finish by two places finishing out at 37th.

My was better than ever with my Ruger Precision Rifle chambered in 6mm Creedmoor which shooting lights out. I did add an ARCA rail to the forend of my rifle which really added performance and ease of snapping in and out of tripods quickly and allowed quick detach of my bipod. My rifle was topped with my Nightforce Optics ATACR 7-35x56 scope shooting Hornady 108gr ELD Match.

This match was my top placing finish to date at a national match. My goal is to always finish in the the top 50th percentile of shooters which I constantly maintained. As always, I owe a huge thanks to my coach Jake Vibbert. And thank you to my entire squad- Jake Vibbert, Paul Dallin, Gregory Harris, Morgun King, Ji Zhang, Garret Preece and Jeremy Swanson.

Wild Sheep Foundation Convention Seminar "Making The Shot Of A Lifetime”

Kristy Titus, NRA Certified Instructor, hosted a positional shooting seminar at the The Wild Sheep Foundation National Convention Making the Shot of a Lifetime along with Sean Murphy, Director of Commercial Training at Nightforce Optics.

Titus and Murphy's seminar, Making the Shot of a Lifetime, discussed positional shots in hunting scenarios. “Positional shooting is a skill that is often overlooked by most hunters, and has surely contributed to many passed shots on trophies that otherwise could have been easily made with a little bit of training,” said Titus.  “Sean and I took attendees through the basics of how to gain stability from almost any position you could come across while afield.”

We discussed how to build a solid shooting position from the ground up, fundamentals of marksmanship to include natural point of aim. Other topics covered, selecting a natural object for a support, how to properly use shooting sticks and tripods and more.

Nightforce 2019 Catalog

There is no greater feeling than being part of a team that manufactures the best optics in the industry. But to also be part of a team that 110% stands behind you is incredible. When this photo was taken, I had carried a 60# pack for nearly a week and at this point had 3 hours sleep the night before and currently awake for 20 hours. I didn’t feel tired. I was born for this. And, Nightforce Optics is the pinnacle in quality optics for people that are like me that live on grit and determination all be it military, law-enforcement, hunters or precision shooters. If you are one of us, you know immediately the heart that goes into this moment. And to have this represent the cover and inside the pages of the 2019 catalog is my absolute honor.

Frontier Ammo For The Modern Sporting Rifle

The modern sporting rifle is extremely versatile. It has light recoil and superior adjustability making it an ideal choice for anyone that wants to plink, target shoot, hunt, for law enforcement training and self-defense.

In this episode of Pursue The Wild, Tips From The Wild, Kristy Titus showcases the American made, Hornady Frontier Cartridge.

Tips For Selecting Hunting Ammunition

One of the most important considerations that hunters need to make prior to any hunt is selecting ammunition that is going to deliver terminal performance at all practical distances for the game we are pursuing. With there being many types of bullets on the market, hunters need to pay attention to how a bullet is constructed and select the bullet that is designed for the game that they are pursuing. In the latest episode of Pursue The Wild, Tips From The Wild, join Kristy Titus as she discusses some considerations to make prior to purchasing ammunition for your next big game hunt and why Hornady Precision Hunter is the most technologically advanced hunting ammunition on the market today.

Increase Downrange Accuracy with NPA

As marksmen and hunters, we want our bullet or arrow to impact downrange with precision on our intended target. Employing natural point of aim (NPA) will help increase downrange accuracy and eliminate muscular tension and fatigue.

In the latest episode of Pursue The Wild, Tips From The Wild, Kristy Titus explains how to test if your sight picture has NPA on the intended target. Combined with the fundamentals of marksmanship; sight alignment, sight picture, breath control, trigger control & follow through form the foundation of precision marksmanship. With a little practice at the range, employing NPA will become second nature and create more successful first round downrange impacts.
