Dancing all the way...

Today was my first day home in nearly two weeks. A very precious day as I am back on the road 3 short days time.

My "To Do" list is crazy full and this morning I woke up at 6:00am promising myself to stay on task and when my most pressing writing assignments and paperwork were caught up, only then would I reward myself with some gym/social media time.

While at the gym, I received a phone call from a friend and associate. Apologizing for my heavy breathing, I told him that I was rewarding myself for diligently working so hard earlier in the day.

His response was "You consider the gym a reward when most people dread going."

Many people do dread going to the gym and often times I forget this. Developing the habit of working out takes time. It certainly does not happen overnight but there is that moment when you start to hear the music, going from "Uggg I don't want to go to the gym" to "I hope I have time for that extra 10 minutes of cardio." I tend to fall into the  "I have arranged my day to get in my cardio and weight training! Lucky me!" category.

We only have one chance at taking care of our bodies, helping to ensure the longest, healthiest life that we can. If you have a bad attitude about going to the gym, try and even fake it and pretend you are excited. Pretend you hear the music and dance anyway...

Once you start seeing those results and "feeling fit" becomes a lifestyle, you won't trade it for an evening on the couch. My workout today was not as much as I would have "liked" but it will do.
